Cookie Policy
Last updated: 27 August 2026
01What this policy covers
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device; the same rules apply to similar storage such as your browser's local storage. This policy lists what www.centauri.org.uk sets, what each item is for, and how to change your choice. It is part of our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use the data involved.
02How consent works on this site
Strictly necessary storage is set without asking, because the site cannot work without it. Everything else — analytics and advertising — is off by default and only switched on if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. Clicking "Decline" keeps it off.
You can change your mind at any time. "Cookie settings" in the footer clears your stored choice, immediately withdraws any consent you gave, and shows the banner again. Withdrawing is as easy as consenting, as PECR requires.
03Strictly necessary
centauri-cookie-consent (local storage, set by us) — remembers whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so we do not ask on every page. Kept until you clear it or change your choice via "Cookie settings".
centauri_booking_session (cookie, set by us) — an anonymous random identifier created when you start the booking form, so that your answers can be saved as you go and restored if you come back. It contains no personal data itself. Removed when you complete the form; otherwise expires after 30 days.
04Analytics (consent required)
Google Analytics (cookies _ga and _ga_*, set by Google) — tells us which pages are visited and how people move through the site. _ga lasts up to two years. Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Until you accept, Google Consent Mode keeps analytics storage denied and no analytics cookies are set.
Vercel Web Analytics (no cookies) — counts page views using a short-lived hash that cannot identify you and is discarded within 24 hours. Because it stores nothing on your device, it does not require consent.
05Advertising (consent required)
Meta Pixel (cookies _fbp and _fbc, set by Meta) — measures whether our Facebook and Instagram advertising leads to visits and enquiries, and lets us show relevant ads to people who have visited the site. _fbp lasts up to three months. Meta's use of this data is described at facebook.com/privacy/policy. Until you accept, the pixel is loaded in a revoked state and sets no cookies.
06Third-party embeds
Some pages embed content from other services, which may set their own cookies when the embed loads: Calendly (the scheduling widget in the booking form) and TikTok and Instagram (video and post embeds). These are governed by those companies' own cookie policies.
07Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary items above will stop the booking form from saving your progress. Instructions for the major browsers are at www.allaboutcookies.org.
08Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie or tracking service we will update this page and the date at the top. Where a new non-essential cookie is added we will ask for your consent again.
